IS EN 50132 CCTV


The National Standards Authority of Ireland, NSAI, announced a Certification Scheme for CCTV Installers, based on the EN 501 32 Series of Standards.

During September 2008, NSAI presented 5 workshops -throughout the country to promote the new scheme to existing NSAI Certified Intruder Alarm Installers. The workshops attracted an attendance of over 300 CCTV Installers.

While I.S. EN 50132; part 7 was published in 1999, part1"CCTV Surveillance Systems for use in Security applications, part 1: System Requirements, "although published has not yet been adopted as a European Standard. As an interim measure, NSAI has introduced a Certification Programme in which a company installing CCTV’s can be assessed against best practice requirements.

On the completion of the successful assessment, NSAI will issue the CCTV installer with certification, confirming that the company has demonstrated that all requirements of NSAI document "Inspection Criteria for Assessment of CCTV Installers" have been satisfied.

The Assessment Process includes:

· Contractual Requirements

· Training Records

· Calibration

· Risk Assessment

· National Wiring Regulations

· Manufacturers’ Documentation

together with physical inspection of selected installations.
